Secondary Only

Patient is a 2 year old female who sustained a Left Obstetrical Brachial Plexus Palsy at birth. She was initially treated with physical therapy and was noted to recover function to her shoulder and elbow. However, patient was noted to develop an internal rotation and adduction deformity unable to fully raise her arm over her head or externally rotate. The patient was seen at 2 years of age and underwent surgery to transfer muscles of her shoulder and repair nerves. She was splinted and then started on physical therapy.

At 2 years post-operative, the patient is noted to have near complete recovery of her shoulder abduction and elbow flexion with excellent hand function. She is still undergoing physical therapy to help strengthen and refine positioning.
